Important Information for Applicants on the HOC Waiting List

For County Residents and Service Providers:

Anyone who registered for the Housing Opportunities Commission (HOC) wait list last year must now renew and update his/her application.


Steps to renew or cancel the HOC Housing Path application:
1.   Applicant logs in to their online account at www.HOCHousingPath.com,
2.  Once logged in, the applicant must confirm or cancel their wait list application:
  •           If the applicant wants to remain on the wait list, they should click the “Keep Application” button and complete their application update.
  •          If the applicant does not want to remain on the wait list, they should click the “Cancel My Application” button and confirm the cancellation of their application.


If an applicant’s personal information has changed, they need to make these updates on the “Account Information” and “Application” pages of the HOC Housing Path website.  Please note that a valid email address is required to update an application.  If the applicant does not update his/her application within 30 days of the one year anniversary of the application date, the application will expire.

July 19 & 20: Town Hall Meetings on Building Relationship Between the Community and Police

Montgomery County to Host Public and Law Enforcement Joint Town Hall Meetings; Public Encouraged to Join Dialogue about the Importance of a Respectful and Trusting Relationship Between Police and the Community






Montgomery County will host two joint town hall meetings to encourage further dialogue about gun violence and work toward the goal of a Montgomery County free of hostility, with enhanced safety for everyone in our community. This initiative is in response to recent events in St. Anthony, Minnesota; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Dallas, Texas.

The meetings will be held Tuesday, July 19, at the Silver Spring Civic Building at 7 p.m. and on Wednesday July 20, at 7 p.m. at the Upcounty Regional Services Center in Germantown.  

Participating in the discussion will be the Montgomery County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Office of Human Rights, the Faith Community Working Group, and the Montgomery County Police Department.

These meetings have the full support of the Montgomery County Human Rights Commission, the Committee on Hate Violence and the Black Minister’s Conference. All are invited to join the important dialogue at these meetings.

Community Action VITA Program Recruiting Volunteers

Community Action VITA is now recruiting volunteers for the 2016 Tax Season.  

Volunteers will serve as tax preparers, greeters, interpreters, resource navigators, schedulers, site coordinators, and quality reviewers for the upcoming tax season. Volunteers will receive free training and serve at multiple sites throughout the County.

Mary's Center Hosts Orientation Sessions on Healthcare Options for the Uninsured

The Mary's Center will host free orientation sessions throughout the month of July for uninsured residents interested in applying for Medical Assistance or healthcare through the ACA.

Mary's Center Offers Services to Victims of Domestic Violence at TESS

Mary's Center, a health and social services organization serving Washington DC, Montgomery County, and Prince George's County, will host a domestic violence support group at the TESS Center on July 13 from 10 AM - 12 PM.  

This session is part of an ongoing partnership between the TESS Center and Mary’s Center.  Staff from Mary’s Center offer services at TESS on a monthly basis and provide daily services to victims of domestic violence at various locations throughout the DC-area.  For more information, please call 202-483-8196 or click HERE

The Community Action Agency VITA Program is now accepting applications for the Volunteer Maryland Coordinator (VMC) position for 2016-2017.  This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position as a member of the Volunteer Maryland (VM) AmeriCorps program.  
The VMC service year begins on September 14th and concludes on August 1st.  VMCs are expected to complete 1,700 hours of service during the term.
