The Montgomery County Community Action Agency is the County’s official anti-poverty agency. The Community Action Board serves in an advisory capacity to the County Executive and County Council, and as an advocate on behalf of the poor and working poor of the County.

Brookings Report: EITC Impact by Number of Children

The Community Action Board has a long-history of advocating to expand the federal and State EITC, and the County's EITC, known as the Working Families Income Supplement. The Community Action Agency's VITA program provides EITC outreach and volunteer-supported free tax preparation, from the end of January to April 15 and from June to October.
