New Minimum Wage in Montgomery County
On October 1, 2014, the minimum wage in Montgomery County increased to $8.40/hour. This is the first of four incremental increases which will occur over the course of the next three years:
October 1, 2015 - $9.55/hour
October 1, 2016 - $10.75/hour
October 1, 2017 - $11.50/hour
These increases are the result of collaborative efforts with Prince George's County and Washington, DC to raise the regional minimum wage. The Montgomery County Community Action Board, joining a coalition of numerous advocacy groups, supported increasing the minimum wage and submitted written testimony to the County Council. The Council signed Bill 27-13 into law on December 5, 2013. Press Release
