Linkages to Learning Seeks Gift Cards for Teens

Linkages to Learning Seeks Donation of Gift Cards for Teen Holiday Gifts

The Linkages to Learning (LTL) program seeks gift cards to be given as holiday gifts to teens served by the program.  LTL is a community school partnership between Montgomery County Health and Human Services, Montgomery County Public Schools and non-profit service providers which provides needed health and social services to over 5,400 students and family members in 29 elementary and middle school communities with high rates of poverty.
Each holiday season, gifts are provided to children and teens.  Gift cards can be of any denomination and suggested stores include Target, Walmart, BestBuy, local movie theaters and restaurants.

The goal is to collect 500 gift cards.  Gift cards can be mailed to Linkages to Learning, 1401 Rockville Pike, Suite 310, Rockville, MD 20852 or staff is available to pick up cards.

VITA Partnering with WorkSource Montgomery to Host Free Tax Preparation Workshops

Community Action's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is partnering with WorkSource Montgomery to host free tax preparation and financial education workshops this year. Registration is now open for December workshops in Wheaton and Germantown. 

Please follow these instructions to register:
  1. Go to the main MWE website
  2. Log in or register 
  3. Follow the link for Appointment Center on the left-hand side
  4. In the drop down menu called Events Calendar, select Montgomery County
  5. Select the location you wish to view (Wheaton or Germantown)
  6. Select the month and click filter
  7. The results are in a list view or calendar view, whichever you select. Once you see the workshop you're interested in, click on it and you will have the option to register.

VITA is seeking volunteers to serve as Greeters, Tax Preparers, Interpreters, and more.  Volunteer opportunities are available at several locations throughout the County.

Orientation Sessions: November 2 and 8, 11 am and 2 pm

VITA Training Sessions: November 14 - January 10
